City of Greenwood, Wisconsin
A municipal website built within a reusable design system, customized enough to feel local while staying efficient to implement and maintain.
The challenge was to use a reusable system without producing a generic municipal website.
Greenwood was part of my deeper work with Town Web’s Premier system. The component foundation already existed, so I went in asking a different question from a fully custom project: where should the system stay consistent, and where would customization make the biggest difference for this city? I started from onboarding and requirements, keeping resident findability, accessibility, readable navigation and long-term maintainability in mind.

I treated the design system as a tool, not a restriction.
I adapted components, variables, imagery, typography and hierarchy to fit Greenwood while preserving the parts of the system that made implementation faster and more reliable. Because I had spent significant time troubleshooting and learning the Premier system with PMs and developers, I could design with a realistic understanding of what would happen after Figma.
A faster delivery model that still leaves room for design judgment.
I supported the project through responsive design, implementation troubleshooting, QA and launch. Greenwood became a good example of a different kind of design maturity for me: the goal was not to prove I could redesign every component, but to know which decisions were worth changing and which were stronger because they stayed consistent.
